WASHINGTON (
ABC NEWS10) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is increasing funding for Lyme disease research by 12 percent, or a more than $1 million increase. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) says the amendment to an existing bill marks the first increase in CDC Lyme funding in years. He says the funding will be used to study and prevent exposure to pathogens that cause Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.
