Fundamentals of Lyme Disease Prevention

Ticks carrying Lyme disease and its co-infections are everywhere, making tick bite prevention an essential part of our everyday lives. Just as using seat belts and wearing sunscreen have become routine safety precautions, so should tick bite prevention.

It’s critical to teach our most at risk group, kids ages 3-14, about Lyme disease. GLA wants everyone, especially kids and teens, to know:

  • What is Lyme disease.
  • Where and how you get Lyme disease.
  • How to prevent a tick bite.
  • What to do if you find a tick.
  • What symptoms to look for if you suspect Lyme disease.

Global Lyme Alliance has developed tick bite and Lyme disease prevention tools and resources to help:

  • Kids and Teens
  • Camps and Youth Organizations
  • Teachers & Schools

Research shows that ticks are now active year-round. Taking a few, simple precautions will keep you and your family safely enjoy outdoor activities. Learn specific tick bite prevention tips.
